Rentals are great for longer stays, but most aren't set up for work. You'll often find a big TV, a decent router and a kitchen table, while your thin laptop has just one or two USB-C ports. A small USB-C hub bridges the gap: one cable gives you a second screen over HDMI, ports for a mouse, drive or keyboard, and laptop charging through the hub. Some hubs add a card reader or a wired Ethernet port as well. Every spec below comes from the makers' product pages, and the hubs are all from brands we already cover in our Anker vs UGREEN GaN charger comparison.

How to choose a travel USB-C hub
- Check your laptop's USB-C port first. Video out needs DisplayPort Alt Mode (or Thunderbolt/USB4), and charging through the hub needs Power Delivery. Both Anker and UGREEN say a port without these won't give you video or charging.
- Bring a big enough charger. These hubs keep about 15W for themselves. For 85W to the laptop, you need a 100W charger and cable. Our Anker vs UGREEN GaN charger guide covers suitable ones.
- Count screens honestly. One HDMI port is enough for a TV or monitor. Only pick a dual-HDMI hub if your laptop can extend two displays (MacBooks show the same image on both through the Revodok 206).
- Think about connectivity. Ethernet is a dependable fix for patchy rental Wi-Fi. For a full network of your own, see our best travel router for Airbnb guide. If the rental's internet drops altogether, a travel eSIM lets you hotspot from your phone. Compare Airalo and others in our best travel eSIM guide.
- Cover your kit. If you're working from rentals for months, SafetyWing is one of the insurers we compare in our travel insurance guide for digital nomads.
Our verdict
The UGREEN Revodok Pro 106 is our pick for working from rentals: it's small, with four 10Gbps data ports, 4K@60Hz HDMI and up to 85W pass-through charging. Choose the Anker USB-C Hub (7-in-1) if you need card readers, the UGREEN Revodok 206 for two screens on a Windows laptop, or the UGREEN Revodok 9-port hub when a wired connection matters most.

FAQ
Can I connect my laptop to an Airbnb TV with a USB-C hub?
Yes, if the TV has a free HDMI input and your laptop's USB-C port supports video output. Plug the hub's HDMI port into the TV and switch the TV's input.
Why isn't my laptop charging at full speed through the hub?
These hubs use about 15W to run, so a 100W charger gives you up to 85W at the laptop. A smaller charger means slower charging.
Does a USB-C hub work with an iPad or phone?
Many do. UGREEN lists iPad Pro and recent iPhones as compatible with the Revodok Pro 106. Phones and iPads can only show one external screen, per UGREEN's Revodok 206 FAQ.
Is Ethernet really better than Wi-Fi in a rental?
A wired connection to the router avoids weak signal and interference from walls. It's the more stable choice for long video calls, as long as the rental's own internet is good.
